  1. How Far is It, calculates great circle distances
  2. Google Maps, finds actual road distances and city close to a longitude and latitude (enter location in lat-lon (Y,X) decimal degrees)
  3. OpenSolver for Excel, open source alternative to Solver to solve MILPs (Solver OK for nonlinear optimization). Win: Unzip download and place files in folder: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART, which is a trusted location and will allow OpenSolver to load at startup just like Solver (note: the folder "AppData" is usually hidden, so you need to type the folder name). Mac: Instructions for installing on Macs are at the bottom of the page.
  4. RetailWarehouseSites.xlsx, contains 13 retail warehouse locations that minimize the total person-miles from the 877 3-digit-ZIP-code population centroids covering the continental U.S.
  5. TL and LTL PPI, select Series ID=PCU484121484121 (TL) and Series ID=PCU484122484122 (LTL) for current monthly and annual PPI values
  6. FedEx LTL rates, provides one-time (spot) LTL rate quote
  7. Freight101.com, provides one-time LTL rate quotes from multiple carriers
  8. CzarLite, provides demo LTL tariff
  9. Prime Rate, current and forecasted prime lending rate (useful for determining interest rate for economic analyses)
  10. Inflation Rate, forecasted year to year change in the Consumer Price Index
  11. Inflation Calculator, adjusts any given amount of money for inflation (useful for converting historical cost estimates)
  12. Truck Costs, working paper from the FHWA’s Comprehensive TS&W Study (useful source for data on truck costs)
